Using TQM Tools: Affinity & Tree Diagrams

Course Background The course will help delegates in the development of an effective quality management system by providing thinking methodology to tackle quality problems. It will also open the way to Total Quality Management.

Work Design A combination of group and individual work with the practical application of knowledge gained during the workshop.

Objectives

The first one, called AFFINITY DIAGRAM, is aimed at answering the question “WHAT?”: “What are the difficulties/problems we are facing in such given situation?” It creates a common understanding of a complex situation within a management team and, therefore, facilitates decision-making on factual data. The second one, called TREE DIAGRAM, is most effective when used to generate detailed action plans totally in line with the findings of the AFFINITY DIAGRAM: “How to improve a given situation or product, how to create a marketing plan, etc.”
